Speaking the truth is always risky for the simple reason that most people don’t want to hear the truth. In a fallen world full of selfish and sinful people, the truth is the last thing most folks want to hear. To actually receive truth – especially spiritual truth – means you may need to admit you are wrong and in need of some big changes in your life. Let’s have a look at such stories, in history, as well as in recent times.
1. Galileo Galilei
Galileo was an Italian astronomer, physicist, engineer, philosopher and mathematician who played a major role in the scientific revolution during the renaissance. He has been called as the “father of modern physics”. His logical explanation about the fact that the Sun was at the center of the solar system not the earth, was against the beliefs of roman catholic church. As they and their followers believed that earth was the center of solar system.
Therefore, when Galileo went on with this research in spite of being warned by the Church, the authorities had no option but to kill him.
