A Punjab police women Manjit Kaur got married to same-sex partner on 22 april 2017. The marriage was solemnized based on hindu customs. Sub inspector Manjit kaur has been working for the last 30 years in the police department in Punjab. On this occassion, Manjt kaur came and dressed up as traditionally red turban and her bride came as riding on a chariot. This same sex marriage would be a rare custom in our country.

The  grand marriage ceremony was attended by their friends,relatives,classmates and colleagues . This marriage was really shocking for Indians. This comes as the first lesbian marriage in India legally. Soon after the marriage, the news gone viral.

The couples were already divorced their partners. It was a second marriage for them. In India, Taboo is  prohibited,but now this brought a turning point for gay/lesbian marriage.
