Rajasthan Teachers Continue Jaipur Protest Over Transfers, Demand Immediate Government Action

The protest by third-grade teachers in Rajasthan has entered another day, with thousands of educators continuing their sit-in at Jaipur's Shaheed Smarak. The demonstrators are demanding a long-awaited transfer policy and say they will not end the agitation until the government announces a concrete decision.

The movement has also taken a political turn, with protesting teachers seeking the resignation of Education Minister Madan Dilawar and requesting direct intervention from Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.

National Anthem Becomes Part of the Protest

One of the most talked-about moments of the protest came on Wednesday evening when police officials reached the demonstration site.

Instead of confronting the officers, the teachers stood together and began singing the national anthem. The gesture reminded many of similar protest methods recently adopted by student groups during demonstrations, where the anthem was used as a peaceful way to respond to police presence.

The incident quickly gained attention both at the protest site and on social media.

Protesters Allege Basic Facilities Were Stopped

Teachers claimed that the administration attempted to pressure them into ending the protest by restricting basic facilities.

According to the protesters, electricity at the venue was switched off, drinking water supply was interrupted and toilet facilities were closed. They said these actions created serious difficulties, particularly for women teachers participating in the sit-in.

Despite these challenges, the protesters said they were determined to continue their movement.

Talks With Minister End Without Breakthrough

A delegation of teachers met Education Minister Madan Dilawar on Wednesday night to discuss their demands.

After the meeting, the minister said the discussions had been positive and assured that the government was looking for a solution.

However, the teachers said similar assurances had been given in the past and insisted that only an official announcement on transfers would satisfy them.

Protesters Seek CM's Direct Intervention

With no immediate resolution in sight, the teachers have now appealed for direct talks with Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.

Along with demanding a statewide transfer policy, they have also called for the resignation of Education Minister Madan Dilawar, holding him responsible for the prolonged delay in resolving the issue.

Teacher Warns of Extreme Step

The protest also witnessed an emotional appeal from one of the participants.

Ganpat Choudhary, a teacher from Jodhpur currently posted in Dholpur, said his family has been affected by the lack of transfers. He warned that if the government failed to take a decision within the specified time, he would consider taking an extreme step.

Officials have not responded publicly to his statement.

Government Promises Transfer Policy Soon

The Rajasthan government has maintained that work on a comprehensive teacher transfer policy is underway.

Education Minister Madan Dilawar said the proposal would be discussed with the Chief Minister before being placed before the Cabinet for approval. Once approved, the policy will be implemented across the state.

For now, however, the teachers remain at the protest site, saying they will continue their agitation until the government announces a final decision.
