Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini Orders Departments to Reduce Government Vehicle Use

The Haryana government has launched a new initiative to reduce the use of official vehicles across departments. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has directed all government offices to use official vehicles only when necessary and adopt fuel-saving practices. The move comes in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal to conserve fuel and protect the environment.

The state government believes that cutting unnecessary vehicle usage will save public money, reduce fuel consumption, and support environmental sustainability. Departments have also been asked to review their current vehicle requirements and encourage more efficient working methods.

Ranbir Gangwa Begins Implementation

Following the Chief Minister's directions, Haryana Public Health Engineering and Public Works Minister Ranbir Gangwa has started implementing the new policy in both departments.

As a first step, Gangwa removed the pilot vehicle from his own convoy. He said public representatives and government officials should set an example by reducing unnecessary vehicle use and promoting responsible use of public resources.

17 Government Vehicles Withdrawn

After reviewing departmental requirements, the minister ordered the immediate withdrawal of 17 government vehicles.

Nine vehicles were withdrawn from the Public Health Engineering Department, while eight vehicles were removed from the Buildings and Roads branch of the Public Works Department. The decision aims to reduce unnecessary government expenditure and improve fuel efficiency.

Vehicles to Be Used Only for Essential Work

The minister directed all officials to use government vehicles only for essential official duties and public welfare activities.

He also encouraged departments to organise virtual meetings whenever possible. According to him, online meetings can reduce unnecessary travel, save time, and help conserve fuel.

Officials Asked to Promote Vehicle Pooling

Ranbir Gangwa instructed departments to adopt vehicle pooling wherever practical. Sharing official vehicles for work-related travel can reduce fuel consumption and improve the efficient use of government resources.

He said every department should actively contribute to the state's fuel conservation campaign and support environmental protection.

Departments to Monitor Fuel Consumption

To ensure proper implementation of the new guidelines, the minister directed officials to regularly check vehicle log books and monitor fuel expenses.

He said continuous monitoring would help identify unnecessary vehicle usage and ensure that government vehicles are used responsibly.
