Haryana Sanitation Crisis Deepens as Workers Extend Strike Till August 15

Haryana's sanitation crisis is likely to worsen as municipal sanitation workers have decided to extend their ongoing strike till August 15. The workers have been protesting since August 6 over a range of pending demands related to job security, wages and working conditions.

Garbage Collection Services Hit

The protesting workers are seeking minimum wages along with social security benefits such as Employees' State Insurance and Employees' Provident Fund.

Considering the risks associated with sanitation work, they have also demanded risk allowance and uniform allowance.

The workers believe these benefits are necessary to improve their working conditions and provide greater financial security to employees and their families.

May 13 Agreement Becomes Another Point of Dispute

The employees have also demanded that the government issue a written order regarding the agreement reached on May 13.

According to the workers, formal orders are necessary to ensure that the commitments made during the agreement are actually implemented.

Fire Department Issues Also Raised

Some of the demands raised during the protest are related to fire department employees.

These include assistance to families in the event of an employee's death, employment-related support and help in specific cases.

The workers have also raised issues concerning assistance in cases such as the Faridabad fire incident.
