Madhya Pradesh Floods: 527 People Rescued as Heavy Rains Trigger Flood-Like Situation
Madhya Pradesh floods have led to the rescue of 527 people as heavy rains raise river water levels across several districts. CM Mohan Yadav reviews the situation.
More than 500 people have been rescued from flood-affected areas of Madhya Pradesh as heavy rainfall continues to disrupt normal life across several districts.
According to officials, a total of 527 people have been rescued so far as rivers and streams witnessed a sudden rise in water levels following heavy rain. Relief and rescue operations are continuing in the affected areas.
CM Mohan Yadav Reviews Flood Situation
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav reviewed the flood situation through a video conference from the State Disaster Management Situation Room at the Home Guard Headquarters in Bhopal.
During the meeting, officials briefed the Chief Minister about the ongoing rescue and relief operations. They informed him that 527 people had been rescued from different flood-affected areas of the state.
Yadav also interacted with some of the people who had been rescued and issued necessary instructions to officials and field teams involved in relief operations.
Heavy Rainfall Causes Water Levels to Rise
Several districts of Madhya Pradesh have received heavy rainfall over the past few days. The intense rain has caused rivers and streams to swell, creating flood-like conditions in some areas.
Waterlogging has also affected several locations, forcing authorities to carry out rescue operations for people stranded in vulnerable areas.
The situation becomes particularly dangerous when water levels in rivers rise suddenly during the monsoon, officials said.
Seven Pilgrims Rescued in Khandwa
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said rescue teams had successfully saved 527 people across the state.
He specifically mentioned the rescue of seven pilgrims in Khandwa, where rising water levels created a dangerous situation.
Yadav praised the rescue teams for their efforts and said the administration was closely monitoring the situation.
CM Urges People Near Rivers to Stay Alert
The Chief Minister appealed to people living near rivers, streams and other water bodies to take extra precautions during the monsoon.
He advised residents to move to safer locations if required and seek assistance from neighbouring districts whenever necessary.
Yadav said the state government was monitoring the situation at the state level and coordinating with local authorities to ensure timely rescue and relief.
Rainfall Below Normal Despite Flood Situation
Yadav also said that overall monsoon rainfall in Madhya Pradesh has remained around 15 per cent below normal.
However, he pointed out that certain areas have experienced intense spells of rain, which have resulted in sudden increases in water levels and created difficult conditions for residents.
The state administration has continued relief and rescue operations in affected areas and is monitoring the situation as rainfall continues.
