Hajj 2027: Applications Open for Hajj Inspector Posts, Apply by August 27

The Haj Committee of India has started the online application process for the recruitment of Hajj Inspectors for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage. Eligible government employees and other candidates meeting the prescribed conditions can submit their applications through the official website until August 27, 2026.

According to Mohammad Tariq, Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Haj Committee, one Hajj Inspector will be assigned for every 135 pilgrims. The exact number of inspectors required from Uttar Pradesh will become clearer after August 17, when around 22,000 selected pilgrims from the state are expected to deposit their first instalment.

Hajj Inspector Recruitment 2027: Who Can Apply?

Employees and teachers working in government-aided madrasas in Uttar Pradesh will also be eligible to apply, subject to the conditions prescribed by the Haj Committee of India.

The basic eligibility requirements include:

• The applicant must be a Sunni Muslim man or woman and hold a bachelor's degree from a recognised institution.

• The applicant must be a permanent employee of the Central or State Government.

• The applicant must not be more than 50 years old as of August 13, 2026.

• Preference will be given to candidates who have knowledge of English, Urdu, Hindi, Arabic and the local language.

• Candidates must be physically and mentally fit, computer literate and familiar with the Hajj Suvidha App.

• Applicants should have adequate knowledge of the rituals of Hajj and the ability to guide and communicate effectively with large groups of pilgrims.

• Candidates against whom an adverse report has been issued in previous years by the Consul General of India, Haj Committee of India or a State Haj Committee will not be considered.

Officials from Group A/Class I or those holding Pay Level 10 or above under the Seventh Pay Commission, along with employees holding equivalent positions in state governments, are not eligible.

Hajj Inspector Application 2027: How to Apply

The online application window will remain open from August 13 to August 27, 2026. Candidates will have to apply through the official Haj Committee of India website.

All required documents and prescribed forms must be uploaded along with the application. Offline applications will not be accepted.

An No Objection Certificate from the applicant's employer, mentioned as Annexure-1, is also required. If the NOC is not available at the time of applying, candidates can upload an undertaking promising to submit it during the interview.

After submitting the online application, candidates must also provide a hard copy of the application to the concerned office either personally or by post.

Applicants have been advised to carefully read Circular-07 dated August 11, 2026 before submitting their forms to ensure that all eligibility conditions and documents are properly understood and uploaded.

Selection Process for Hajj Inspectors

The selection will be based on the combined performance in a computer-based examination and an interview/personality assessment.

The written examination will carry 170 marks, while the interview or personality test will carry 30 marks.

Officials have advised applicants to check the official Haj Committee website and the latest circular for the confirmed dates of the examination and interview, as some dates mentioned in the notice reportedly contain discrepancies.

If the number of applications is higher than the available vacancies, a lottery system may also be used as prescribed under the selection guidelines.

Training and Deputation Period

Selected candidates are expected to undergo a two-day training programme in Mumbai during the second week of October 2026.

State Hajj Inspectors selected for the 2027 pilgrimage are expected to remain on deputation for around two months. During this period, they will continue to receive their salary and allowances from their parent department.

The necessary details of their deputation will also be entered into their official service records.

Other Mandatory Conditions

Applicants must have a valid international passport that remains valid until December 31, 2027.

Candidates who have already served three or more times as Sakha-ul-Hujjaj or State Hajj Inspectors will not be eligible to apply this year.

Reservation and Preference Categories

The selection guidelines also provide for specific categories of reservation and preference.

Around 25% of the seats will be allocated to applicants who have demonstrated notable performance while serving as State Hajj Inspectors or on Hajj deputation during the previous five years.

Some seats will also be reserved for eligible applicants who have already performed Hajj, while certain positions are earmarked for eligible permanent employees of Haj Committees and Waqf Boards.

The remaining 50% of seats will be open to all candidates who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria.

The Haj Committee of India has said that the recruitment process will be conducted transparently and that candidates will be selected according to merit and the prescribed eligibility and selection criteria.
