Trump’s Media Company Reports $238 Million Loss in Q2 as Revenue Stands at Just $1.7 Million
Donald Trump as Trump Media & Technology Group reports a $238 million loss in the second quarter of 2026.

US President Donald Trump’s media company, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), has reported a net loss of $238 million for the second quarter of 2026, despite recording a sharp rise in revenue compared with the same period last year.

According to the company’s latest filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), TMTG generated $1.7 million in revenue between April and June. However, the company’s losses remained significantly higher than its earnings.

Digital Asset Losses Hit TMTG’s Financial Results

A major portion of the company’s quarterly loss was linked to unrealised losses related to digital assets, digital assets pledged and equity securities.

TMTG reported $190.4 million in unrealised losses from these investments. The company also recorded $11.7 million in accreted interest, which refers to unpaid interest that is added to the principal amount of a loan.

Another $8.1 million was reported as stock-based compensation.

Despite the large net loss, TMTG’s quarterly revenue increased by 89 per cent compared with the second quarter of 2025.

Advertising Brings in Most of the Revenue

The company’s filing showed that almost all of its revenue came from its media operations.

Advertising generated around $1.43 million during the quarter, while subscriptions contributed approximately $179,500.

However, the increase in revenue was not enough to offset the company’s expenses and investment-related losses.

For the first six months of 2026, TMTG reported a total net loss of $644 million against revenue of only $2.5 million.

TMTG Shares Fall 8 Per Cent

The financial results also affected the company’s stock performance.

Shares of TMTG, which trades on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol DJT, fell 8 per cent by the close of trading on Monday.

The company’s portfolio includes Truth Social, the social media platform used by Trump, along with the Truth+ video streaming service and Truth.Fi, its financial technology brand.

Company Expands Into Crypto and Market Intelligence

TMTG has been expanding its business beyond social media and streaming. Over the past year, the company has entered the cryptocurrency space and has also launched a market intelligence service called Truth API.

The service, which became available on August 1, provides investors with faster access to posts published on Truth Social.

Trump frequently uses Truth Social to make announcements on major policy issues, including tariffs and the US-Israel war on Iran. This has raised concerns about the potential impact of the service and whether investors could gain an advantage from receiving access to such posts more quickly.

TMTG interim CEO Kevin McGurn said during the company’s earnings call on Monday that 10 companies had already subscribed to Truth API. Customers are reportedly paying between $60,000 and $100,000 per month for the service.

The business has also attracted questions over possible conflicts of interest because of the influence of Trump’s posts on financial markets.

Truth Social Continues to Trail Major Platforms

Despite Trump’s large following, Truth Social continues to have a much smaller user base than major social media platforms such as X and Facebook.

The New York Times, citing data from online tracking firm Similarweb, reported that visits to Truth Social in July were down by more than one-third compared with the same month last year.

The latest financial results highlight the challenges facing TMTG as it attempts to expand its business across media, technology, cryptocurrency and financial services while continuing to operate with substantial losses.
